Figure Works 

 

I was first inspired by figure classes with the acclaimed American artist Andy Braitman; a celebrated artist/teacher who ignites the passion to see . 

 

 
The fundamentals of figure work study is seeing . Seeing the shape, contour shadows, weight ,form, & the beauty of the figure in its space .
Contours, subtle light & shading define and carve out the figures place in its 
 
 
My figure works journey is exploring the gestural study . Quick charcoal blurts on paper define my style & capture the mood of spontaneous exciting lightness of being .
 
It's about that fleeting moment when hand, eye , paper & instrument  come together and grasp the essence of the figure in space .
 
I embrace the form and light with simplistic tools of charcoal , graphite & paper .
 
I try and capture the human form in its beautiful simplicity
